Welcome to the Rushmoor School website

We hope you will find the site useful and of interest in finding the right education for your son or daughter. It can be no substitute, however, for a personal visit of the school, giving an insight into school life and the unique ethos of Rushmoor. Please contact the Admissions Secretary to arrange a personal tour with the Principal.

We appreciate the importance you attach to selecting the best independent school for your son or daughter; childhood is something which can be experienced only once. With this in mind, and the belief that children learn best when they feel happy and secure, we aim to develop in our pupils a lifelong interest in learning - one which encompasses the full range of intellectual, cultural, artistic and sporting achievements of our society.

Centenary 1918 - 2018

Rushmoor School first came to Bedford in 1918, having moved here from London during the First World War.  Celebrations to mark the centenary year in 2018 include a reunion for former pupils and their families, together with former staff.  The junior school pupils are hosting a tea party for their parents where they will entertain them with songs and poems themed around the centenary celebrations.  There is an anniversary assembly about the School's history and a celebratory cake for all the pupils to enjoy.  Also, various departments have themed work around the centenary, for example, the mathematics department encouraged pupils to compete in timestable competitions by using the 100 number square.

We are very proud of our strong reputation in Bedfordshire of providing excellent care and education.  Our motto is "Where Individuals Matter" and over our long history individuals have always mattered at Rushmoor.

The PTFA exists as the social and fund-raising arm of the school's activities.

We organise different social events throughout the year, trying to involve as many children and parents as possible in events such as fetes, feature evenings, sporting events etc..

We are a group of volunteers, parents looking to be innovative and find new ways to support the children and the school.

In the last year, there have been a number of significant purchases, most recent being numerous cleverboards.
